BioActive Food GmbH is a science-based company. Our focus are research projects with a focus on health-promoting food and nutrients or food offering wellness-maintaining properties. Based on the results coming mainly from human studies, we develop and produce nutrients and foods preventing e.g. skin aging, macular degeneration as well as osteoporoses. Research and particularly human studies need a lot of resources. So, we work together mainly with academic institutions such as:
TU-Munich (Weihenstephan), Dermatological Clinic Berlin, Max-Planck-Institute for Biophysics (Frankfurt) and Institute of Pharmacy at the University of Kiel.
BioActive Food GmbH researches, develops and produces foods and food supplements whose positive effects on health have been proven in scientific studies. Osteo Natur: Worldwide the first product containing vitamin D as well as vitamin K1 utilizing natural resources: just freeze dried kale (delivering vitamin K1) and bakers yeast (under light yeast is producing a lot of vitamin D). There are several health claims showing the benefits of both vitamins: "Vitamin K contributes to the maintenance of normal bones" (EFSA, 2009) and "Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and contributes to the normal function of the immune system" EFSA 2010).
Recent studies have shown that carotioids in the skin can slow down the appearance of wrinkles. Lutex skin is a natural concentrate containing lutein and other carotinoids extracted from kale. Lutex Skin provides prolonged skin protection. In a study performed at the Dermatology Clinic in Berlin it was demonstrated that carotinoids can gain access to the skin. The contents reach the skin from within, penetrating the inner layers where the formation of wrinkles begins.
Lutex Vision: This kale extract, which is rich in lutein and zeaxanthine, is the first supplement worldwide that is extracted without the use of organic solvents and is thus free of chemical residues. Recent studies show that lutein forms a protective layer of pigment for the retina by reducing mainly blue light. 2 Capsules contain 0,9 mg of lutein, an amount which is completely sufficient, due to its excellent uptake from the kale oil. This was demonstrated in a placebo-controlled study at the Dermatology Clinic (Meinke et al. 2010, EJPB). Comment: Most of the currently available preparations contain crystalline lutein which is not readily soluble in water and is only absorbed in small amounts from the intestine.
